Life in Lexington

Life in Lexington has been really good. (Side Note: Lexington is a million times better than Louisville, sorry guys)  I love being able to spend all this time with the kiddos.  Malcolm loves playing with his feet and I love how he looks when he goes for them!!  I have also started putting him in his bumbo chair (Thanks Aunt Manda!)  I give him some toys to play with and he actually plays with them a bit before dropping them out of reach!  lol

Kaylee loved staying with her "Nama and Campa" Sproul.  She has adjusted well.  The first week she was in a toddler bed but when she woke up she kept getting up and getting into everything and one time she was able to get out of the room.  I ended up picking up 4 boxes worth of stuff that she emptied for drawers in the room.  So now the mattress of the bed is surrounded by a super yard with the toddler bed frame preventing her from moving the entire thing toward the other bed (she would climb onto that bed.)  It is working and I am less stressed and less apt to running to Louisville and pulling Kevin to Lexington by his ear.  LOL
She has also enjoyed all the outside time she is getting.  In a house it is easier to take walks, go to the park (especially since I have access to my van daily) and they have a backyard!  I cleaned off this slide for her and she loves using it!
She also loves to play horse shoes.  And by play I mean take the horseshoes and place them on the other steak in the ground.  Sometimes one by one, sometimes all at the same time.
Oh look at that lovely hair do!  HAHA  The first time we went out there I said, "Kaylee, what's that?" talking about the basketball hoop.  She looks at it and says, "BASKETBALL!"  We have no clue how she knows that.  Probably from watching Kevin play basketball or from some Sprout show she watched while I was packing.  But it was funny.
Sometimes when I am trying to wear her out I just say, "Kaylee come get me" and begin jogging around the tree.  She thinks it is pretty awesome.  Every once in awhile I turn around and scare her and she laughs!  So funny! So fun being a mom!

Packing: Suck it up

So we are all settled temporarily at Kevin's parents place.  Moving has been a challenge.  But we are glad the packing is over (for now).  One thing we used a lot during packing is vacuum seal bags.  Kevin especially was very proud of this find.  The above picture is a packed bag.  This is one of those big bags you check at the airport.
Here is a bunch of vacuum bags in the bag.  The books on the side were in the pockets.

This is everything out of the bags.  Needless to say it packed a ton of stuff.  When I fly to San Diego we will make sure to weigh this baby because it was very heavy.
Packing with two muchkins is really hard.  Because they need attention too.  Not only food and sleep, but fun playtime with mom and dad.  So we tried to spend at least a little time with them.  It was also hard because with the mess of packing, there was little room for them to play.  Especially little Malcolm.  Which sounds funny because he is so tiny!  But I mean try to find a good spot for a play gyms and/or bouncer in the mess of packing.  A safe place too. But we got through it, and we are now to the easier part. Our stuff is now in San Diego as of Monday.  The whole moving truck thing is a mess.  Without going into it (got to feed the babe) DO NOT HIRE ECO VAN LINE!!!  Bad bad bad.

Malcolm 3 and 4 months!

Well, we have been super busy moving the last few weeks.  So I haven't gotten a chance until now to post about Malcolm growing up!  So here he is at 3 months and 4 months!

3 months

4 months

We went to the doctor today for his 4 month appointment.  Denisha recommended her pediatrician to me for while we are here and I love everything about the office.  Especially the print outs of the growth charts and the fact that he went to med school with our old pediatrician in Louisville!  Anyway, he is looking great.  He is 13 lbs 14 oz and 24.5 in tall.  That is about the 25/30 percentile.  So he is proportionate.  The only thing is the doc found a tiny bit of thrush on his cheek.  So Malcolm and I are now going to be on prescriptions for a few weeks, and I am in need of sterilizing whatever he puts in his mouth so he won't give it back to himself.  For those who don't know what it is, in my non medical "gist" description, it has to do with yeast.  Yea just google it.  Better luck that way!  haha

Malcolm is such a fun boy and such a good baby!  He sleeps about 11 hrs a night average, takes 3 naps, eats between every 3.5-4 hrs, has ONLY had my milk (yay me!) and smiles and laughs often!  He has rolled onto his side, and contemplated rolling over, but he has yet to actually roll over.  Not worried, he will do it eventually.  Now that we are in Lexington I have more time to work with him a bit.

Well, hopefully I will be caught up soon.  We sure love this little boy and I'm so grateful I get to be his mommy!!!  :-)
