Blessing of Kaylee Jayne Sproul

Last week we were able to bless Kaylee Jayne Sproul in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Kevin gave the blessing and was accompanied by Don Sproul, Curtis Connors, Rodney Sproul, Allen Sproul, Justin Romney, Ryan Russell, Bishop Barrington, Bro Bowen, and Daniel Cloward.  The blessing was beautiful and she wore a beautiful gown made by a lady in my mom's ward.

My family flew in from San Diego, CA, Allen and Britany Sproul flew in from Sandy, UT and our fam from Lexington came.  From left to right: Anne Marie Mercurio, Claudia Connors, Curtis Connors, Sarah Connors, Jayne Sproul, Don Sproul, Kaylee Sproul, Cindy Sproul, Kevin Sproul, Allen Sproul, Britany Sproul, Sopper Sproul, Denisha Sproul, Bentley Sproul, Paisley Sproul, and Rodney Sproul.

We are so thankful to have all of them in our life and so glad they were able to come be with us on Kaylee's special day.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with them too.

This is our first picture as a family.  I will post better pictures of her in her gown later.  She is such a cutie.  I'm glad it all worked out so well.  She didn't even cry or anything during it.

First Smile

So for about a week or so now, Kaylee has been focusing in on our faces and giving us little smiles.  It seems like as soon as I grab a camera she stops until one time without even trying, I caught a picture with my phone.  She is such a cutie!
She loves the little toys on her bouncer.  I noticed when I brought her over to her Aunt Denisha and Uncle Rodney's house that she was enjoying the toys that her cousins were showing her so I put up the little attachment and she loves it.  We sometimes take her little hand and have her pull the middle ring and it plays a song and she seems to really like that.  She can't do it on her own yet, but having us do it for her seems to be pretty fun.  She also last week decided that she can roll from belly to side and once from belly to back....that is way early for a baby to do that.  Very proud our little girl we are!!  :-)

One Month Old!

Last Wednesday our little Kaylee turned 1 month old!  She has a doctors appointment that morning for her check up and shot.  She was 21.5 inches and 10 lbs 4 oz.  The shot was just horrible, and I don't look forward to multiple shots.  I cried.  She cried, but slept most of the day.  She has truely made Kevin and I very happy parents and can't wait to show her off to more people.  Of course it has been a rough month too, a lot of learning, and a lot of tears.  But so much joy, happiness and love!

Thank you Denisha for taking the wonderful picture of our little girl.  This was actually taken around 2 weeks old, but I had to post one of them.  So cute!!

Welcome Kaylee Jayne Sproul

This is the first picture taken of our sweet daughter Kaylee Jayne Sproul, Born 10-10-10 at 5:27pm, 8 lbs 3 oz, 21 in long.  She is just over 2 weeks old and now we couldn't love her more!

Here are some pictures from the hospital.  I will post more when I have more time.
I got to 9 1/2 cenimeters dilated completely effaced when it stayed that way for 2 1/2 hours and they then decided to go ahead and do a c-section.

These pictures are a little out of order.  These two are of us taking her home.  We spent a total of 5 days in the hospital including labor.

This is me after the epidural!!  LOVE IT!!!  I took the best nap while I was in labor because of it.

WELCOME KAYLEE!!!!  She is amazing!

38 week check up and WAITING!

So I promised a sneak peek of the nursery and I was able to get a little video of it.  Of course I will be taking out all the stuffed animals from the crib when I actually put her in it, I just have them there right now.  But here it is:

I had a doctors appointment last Wednesday went well.  I gained 4 pounds apparently and so I am up to 19 lbs.  Still not bad, still over my goal, but that is ok.  I am now 4 centimeters dilated.  I keep forgetting to ask if I am effaced at all.  But literally I could go into labor anytime.  We are REALLY hoping for tonight/tomorrow since 10-10-10 would be awesome.  But I have no clue.  I really just want her out.  I want to meet her. He gave us a packet with all my pregnancy info to give to the people at the hospital for nights and weekends especially since it is harder to get that information after office hours, and seemed optimistic that I won't make it to my next appointment.  Kevin and I are already starting the mass walking and eating spicy food!  The nursery is done and the apartment looks pretty dang good!  Kevin cleaned for me this last week and we've been able to maintain it.  So the wait is on.  I am officially a ticking time bomb.  Can't wait to become a family of three.

Last weekend Kevin and I had a weekend of Kevin and Cindy time where we just relaxed and played card games, watched movies, and ate good food.  I believe we also went on a date to the new Chinese place we love called Yummy Wok off of Blankenbaker road.  YUM!  It was our way to have a "last weekend" as just us.  It was a great weekend.

This last week we also had a smoothie party to kick off becoming distributers of Juice Plus.  I believe I have mentioned that we started taking it before, but after talking to our friend Monica about it, and considering how much we have grown to believe in it, we decided to go ahead and become distributers.  Here is out website:

Hopefully my next blog will be a baby announcement, only time will tell!

37 Weeks=Full Term!

Last Wednesday I had my 37 week doctors appointment.  I lost 2 pounds, which the doctor didn't seem concerned about.  That puts me to 15 pounds gained which is my goal.  He did a group strep test which we will get the results for next week.  Also he did a cervical exam and I am indeed 2-3 centimeters dilated!!  He said that I could either still be 2-3 next week or I could be calling him this weekend.  So anytime now!  However I am not expecting to go into labor before the next appointment.  I have had more contractions.  This morning I was woken up by a contraction at about 7:05am but they stopped shortly after Kevin's alarm went off at 7:20am.  Since then I have been feeling great and getting so much done!  I haven't felt this good in awhile actually.  At the moment I don't even feel 37 weeks pregnant!  Unlike yesterday where I was almost in tears sick of being pregnant.  Kevin is being just wonderful and taking care of me and seems as prepared as can be for the big day.

Talking about being prepared, we have the nursery complete!  I'm sure I am forgetting something and maybe I need more of some things, but I won't find out until after little Kaylee is born.  Pictures will be coming soon I'm sure.  I want to do a video tour but we will see if I have time for all that.  Thanks for all the love and support!  We will keep you posted!

36 weeks!

Yesterday I had my 36 week check up.  I gained 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks which brings me up to 17 pounds gained which isn't bad but my goal was 15.  I haven't been able to exersize as much in the last week because if I do I start getting some contractions.  I confirmed that I was indeed getting contractions when I was at the doctor by describing them to him.  He didn't check me to see if I was dialated or not, I thought he was going to.  But by what I had described how I have been feeling he said there wasn't a reason to check me.  So I won't get checked until next time.  But as a whole, everything is still looking good and he told me that now is the time to start watching for signs of labor.

Above is in front of the doctors office before our visit.  There is definitely a big baby in there.  She is still moving around a lot. It is fun.  Even when she keeps me up.  Because I know she is alive and that is such a blessing.  Kevin and I feel so thankful to have the opportunity to bring a child into this world and that Heavenly Father has trusted us to become parents to this new life we will meet in about 3 1/2 weeks.  Now my hope is that she at least comes after October 5th because I just found a pediatrician and they have New Parents Night that night so I want to go to that.  Still crossing our fingers for 10-10-10 though.  Or the 21st which is my dad's birthday!  Anyway, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!

34 down 6 to go!

Today was our 34 week doctors appointment!  We got an ultrasound to see the size of the baby and measure the fluid.  They said that she is measuring a little under 6 pounds and the fluid level is good.  My doctor said that the weight is in the 75% of the 34 week babies so slightly large but not so large that I have to worry about a c-section at this point.  He said that most likely if I carry her until my due date that she will be about 8 1/2 pounds.  Kevin and I still think that we are having her earlier than October 18th, but they are sticking to that due date.  I've heard that there is a connection between the mother's birth weight and babies birth weight.  If so I was like 7 lbs 9-12 oz??  I have to double check that with my parents.  Above is a profile picture we got of her.  Her hand is there by her mouth.  SO cute!

This is another profile picture that we got.  We almost got a REALLY good picture of her face but she decided to move so we couldn't get the picture.  I guess she wanted to leave that more of a surprise, but what we saw was SO cute!  She has these cute little lips.

This one is a foot shot.  She is head down now.  She has been moving a lot.  I've been doing kick counts.  The baby is supposed to move 10 times in 2 hours.  I usually get to 10 movements in like 10 minutes.  So she's an active one.  Sometimes she does keep me up at night but I can't be that annoyed because every movement is a reminder that she is alive and OK.  So during the last 3 weeks since my last appointment, I have gained one pound.  :-)  So the total is 13 pounds!!  YES!!  I really thought it would be more because I just felt fatter, but I have been keeping active, not eating horrible, and taking all my vitamins. Although I do pull out that pregnancy card from time to time.

Talking about exercising and eating good.  Kevin also measured his weight while I was getting my blood pressure taken and he has lost a total of 17 pounds since starting the Wii fit.  We also starting taking Juice Plus about a month ago and I think that is helping him strive for good habits.  I'm so very proud of Kevin!  He is a great example to me and I hope that we both can continue to keep up taking care of ourselves after the baby is born even though we are also taking care of a little baby. :-)

Getting in Shape

About a month ago or so Kevin and I invested in buying Wii Fit.  We already had a Wii and Kevin knew I really wanted to get a Wii fit mainly for after the pregnancy.  I have been so proud of Kevin because in the last month he has worked out almost every day and has been eating better.  He weighed himself at my doctors office and he has lost about 10 lbs.  Good Job Kevin!  I do the things that is safe for me to do like step workouts, balance games, things that don't make me bounce a lot.  I also don't do it as long since it isn't a Wii Fit made for pregnancy (they should have those!).  I switch off between that and my pregnancy yoga dvd.  One of the things we enjoy about the wii fit is that we can get competitive by beating each others scores and it makes even beating your own score exciting.  It records your weight, exept since we have carpet I think that it is a little off.  And by a little I mean 20 lbs off.  So we keep that in mind when it does weigh us. And is definitely a humerus, but not so exciting part of it.  No one REALLY likes to see how much they weigh...except me when I am pregnant!  :-)
Anyway, we are really pleased with this investment and I think that it will help us be healthier.  Becoming parents soon, we really want to be examples to our children of being healthy so that our kids will strive to be healthy.

Love you all!!

31 Weeks and Loving it!

Today we  went to another doctors appointment!  Everything went good.  I gained 6 pounds this month so that puts me at a total of 12 lbs.  which she said is good.  Go me!  She measured my belly and she said that I am measuring 2 inches large (I think she is talking about my uterus?) and so she is having me get an ultrasound next appointment to evaluate the size of Kaylee.  Which basically means that there is still a possibility that my due date could change.  I mean my first due date was October 6th, so I wouldn't be very surprised.  Kevin and I think it would be super cool if she was born on 10-10-10  but we will see.  Only time will tell.  Overall though, the appointment went good.  She had a good heartbeat.  She was a little shy about it.  She kept moving away from the Doppler, but we heard her heartbeat and it was strong.

Last week, Kevin and I went to see our new niece in the hospital!  Her name is Copper Calloway Sproul (Sorry if I spelled that wrong Denisha and Rodney!!).  She is REALLY cute just like her sisters!  I'm excited because we are going to have cousins close in age.  She was born on 8-9-10, 8 pounds 5 ounces.  Congrats Rodney and Denisha!  We are so excited to have Copper in our family!

This Saturday, Kevin and I are going to do the Marathon Class at the hospital which is all the hospital birth classes in one day.  We are excited to see the hospital and be better informed, but it is an all day class so Kevin especially is not excited to sit through it.  He might like it more than he thinks.  I am really excited that we are going to Denny's for lunch.  :-)  Can't wait for our next appointment  September 7th.  My friend Mike's Birthday!

27 Weeks

The picture to the left is a picture Kevin took of me end of last week at 26 weeks 3 days.  Today I had my 27 week doctors appointment.  It went really well.  The hard part was that I had to not eat anything 12 hours at least before I got there and couldn't eat until after I left because they did the glucose test thing where I drink a drink and an hour later they take blood to see how the glucose or whatever is absorbing in my body.  It is basically to see if I have the gestational diabetes.  They test everyone, and my doctor doubts I have it or I would have shown more signs of it.  If there is a problem I will get the results this week, but if nothing is wrong we are just going to go over the results at my next visit in 4 weeks.  My last 4 week period before an appointment.  After next appointment we are going to every two weeks and then every week as it gets closer.  Funny thing about my appointment is that when he was getting her heartbeat she also had the hiccups so we heard how that sounded.  All I remember though is that is sounded odd.  It was funny because I felt it and I saw the top of my belly bounce as her was getting her heartbeat.  Everything still looking good and so far Kaylee and I are still healthy and enjoying this pregnancy.

Oh note about that picture above, I really feel a lot bigger than that and also note that although it is for the most part a good picture, Kevin didn't tell me that my shirt was flipped up in the back which I think makes my belly look smaller.  Seriously, I look down and see a bigger belly.  She is getting heavier I can feel it.

My wonderful parents bought us a wonderful crib.  Here is a photo!

I love it!  The crib mattress also has soothing vibrations to help baby sleep!  LOVE IT!  Kevin and I can't wait to meet this girl!  3 more months!

Week 23!

Yay! So the picture above was taken today at 23 weeks and 2 days. I'm getting BIG! Of course I didn't realize that I am standing in front of a black bookcase with a black shirt but if you really look you can tell I'm getting big. I only gained 3 pounds this month which makes me even with the weight gain and loss. So now I am just going to gain more weight! Woo ... Haha at least I have a good reason now. She is still looking healthy. We were able to see her heart beating! With all 4...parts of it. Valves? I'm not a medical pro. But it was really cool. This time if we didn't know the gender we would have no problem seeing it this time. But the parts we did need to see, the heart and diaphragm she was being stubborn on. But we got what we needed. It is getting more and more exciting! More and more real too.

Today was my last day of work!!! YES!!!! My feet are done with working. Now I get to do a lot of preparing for our little girl to arrive! There is a lot to do. As you can probably tell in that picture I have been doing some organizing and such. But the real work in the preparations is ahead as we will get more things and have to clear out most of the second bedroom and fill our own room more in strategic ways. Fun!
Above is my favorite ultrasound we got this last appointment. It is like she is saying Cowabunga dude!!

Here is our baby's little face! Think she looks like a Kaylee Jayne Sproul yet? I sure hope so because finding secondary names is hard! I'm sure she will look a lot cuter in October! My next appointment is the one where I drink that drink and then have my appointment and then go down and have some gestational diabetes test. Just routine. They said that I would probably already be showing signs if I had it. But yea, sounds....yummy? We'll see. I've heard both ways. Luckily the appointment is in the morning so I don't have to worry about fasting during the day. Just when I sleep. :-) This is getting really exciting.

Someone's got The Palsey

So when Kevin got home from San Diego he noticed that he had a cold. Then he started to notice that half of his face is numb. Turns out he has Bells Palsy and has to take Steroids. Not only that but because half of his face is numb he can't use his right eye like he would like. So the poor guy is feeling sick and feels a connection both to Johnny Depp and Silvester Stallone. I think it is cute. But we did get a few request for some posts. The above picture is his normal smile and the below is him opening his mouth wide.

San Diego Trip 2010

Welcome Home Elder Connors! As some of you know, my brother Charlie spent the last two years in Dallas, TX serving a Spanish speaking LDS mission. He did a great job out there. I was really impressed with his letters and more impressed with the Charlie that came home! He is so good at talking to people and really respectful of others and he likes real food now! He cooks it too! He is truly an awesome brother and a really good person. He has a great knowledge of the gospel. I'm glad the little guy is home. Charlie coming home was the #1 reason Kevin and I made the trip out to San Diego. We were also able to see a lot of my family.
Here is Kevin waiting for the rest of us to get ready. Probably to go to one of the many "events" we had planned. I arrived on Tuesday May 25th, Kevin and Charlie arrived the 26th. Then Thursday we had family pictures done at the beach, Friday we had a wonderful afternoon with Grandma Melba, and then we had Missionary weekend full of friends and family. Charlie gave an excellent talk at church that had Claudia (my sister) and I crying a bit. He is a sweet guy. It was cool to have Kevin and Charlie together again to get to know each other a bit since Kevin met Charlie at his farewell and while Charlie has been in Dallas, Kevin and I have gotten engaged, gotten married and gotten pregnant, twice. So now Charlie has a new brother in law which is awesome since he doesn't have any brothers.
The week after Kevin went back to Kentucky I had a really good time mostly with my siblings. I got to go to the San Diego Zoo with Claudia and Charlie and my long time friend Yvonne, her husband Eli and her two girls Destiny and Marbella. It was REALLY fun. It was nice to see them again and meet their two girls. I also got to see my friends Amanda aka Manda and Michael Diaz! I love them! One of the funniest days I think was Friday where I got to hang out with Claudia all day. We went to Sea Port Village and I got Kevin a Fathers Day gift. It is a big mug that says, "New Daddy, Get ready for your world to be rattled" :-) Then Claudia took me to lunch at The Blue Pearl a restaurant at one of the hotels she works at. She is a massage therapist (REALLY good one too by the way) and goes to all different hotels to do massages. This place was SO good. Good prices, and the best hotel food I've ever had. SO delicious. After that we went to Mission Beach and got ice cream cones and walked and talked. We laughed a lot! I cried from laughing so hard!

On Saturday my mom and my friends Anne Marie and Kathy Mercurio through me a wonderful baby shower! To the right is a picture of some candy bars they handed out. Really cute!

To the left is the dessert table. The cupcake cake has chocolate cupcakes with baby faces on it made out of vanilla wafers dipped in melted frosting which was DELISH!!!! They did such a good job and it was really sweet of them to get everything together. There will be a Louisville shower too, but my family back home really wanted to be part of this joyous occasion. This will be the first grandbaby on my side of the family and the 4th granddaughter on Kevin's side. Kevin and I are very loved! Thank you to my San Diego friends and family who love our little family!

It's a Girl!

Sorry that it has been two weeks to let my blog readers know the news that we are indeed having a girl!

I took this picture with Kevin's phone so unfortunately I got my finger shadow in the picture. Here is a profile picture of our little girl!

Almost time for It's a ????

Today I am 18 weeks and 4 days pregnant! I am feeling really good. Just a lot of growing and tiredness. But nothing I can't handle. I have been feeling the baby move a lot more lately. Especially when I'm hungry. It is like my tummy growling sounds like a monster that he or she needs to run away from. Monday is the day where we find out if it is a boy or a girl! I can't wait! Most people think it is going to be a boy I think. I still think it may be a girl. I guess we'll find out soon! But very happy for either one.

This is a picture of me at 16 weeks making Spaghetti!

Random, I am also going to be able to go to San Diego on Tuesday for my brother Charlie coming home from his 2 year mission in Dallas, TX! He has done such a good job! We are all proud of him.

14 weeks and Counting

This is what Kevin made out of our 10 week ultrasound. I thought it was really cute. Anyway, we had an appointment yesterday which went really well. We heard the little heart beat which was awesome. Most of it was us asking questions. It is confirmed that my pregnancy at this point is NOT a high risk pregnancy just because of the miscarriage. We were super carefully with everything during the first trimester and now that I am in my second trimester, I will continue only putting safe food in my belly and doing what I can to help the little "bambino" grow. One of the managers at my work calls our baby the little bambino. He he. Anyway, we scheduled our appointment to find out the sex of the baby. It will be May 24th at 3:30pm!! EST of course. Very excited!
This is a pretty bad picture of me at 13 weeks. I don't know if I look too different than the picture below taken I believe at 10 weeks. I actually lost one pound this month. At my last appointment I had lost 6 pounds so, so far during this pregnancy I have so far lost 7 pounds...lol. I don't think that will be the case soon.
So this is me I believe at 10 weeks. I started to show pretty early. I also have been feeling little flutters of the baby moving. I just know that is what I'm feeling because I have never felt anything like that before. It was really awesome. I look forward to feeling even more movement and eventually some kicking.

I am also excited because I am going to be quitting my job on June 25th. Well I have already given my notice but that will be my last day. I am NOT going to be spending my third trimester working at a deli. No way. Anyhow, that is the update this week. :-)

Week 10!

We had our second appointment on Tuesday at 10 weeks pregnant. We were not expecting to get an ultrasound, but we did get one! It was awesome because we got to see our little baby's arms and legs wiggling around. Seeing that made it a lot more real for Kevin and I. We were like, "Holy Poo! We are actually having a baby!" Happy and nervous at the same time. But WAY excited at the same time! It is funny because I have been super careful feeling my belly and the doctor just dug in with that ultrasound stick and I was like, woh! Ow! But it wasn't that big of deal. I was mainly surprised. But I like my doctor. He seems really cool. My next appointment is April 20th. My Aunt Ruth's Birthday! At that appointment we will then schedule my ultrasound which will tell us if it is a boy or a girl. Woo! I am feeling a lot better. I am almost to that 2nd trimester so I am really excited about that. I still don't want chicken or most meats. But we will see if I will want them again soon or if I will love my chicken and meat again after we have our little baby. YAY!

Here I Am!

Wednesday, February 24th, Kevin and I were able to get an ultrasound to see our baby and hear the heartbeat! Here is the sonogram. It is tiny but you can see our little baby. Can't wait for the next one. This is at 6 weeks 2 days. I am now at 7 weeks 3 days. Kevin and I are still really excited. This last week I have been feeling real bad. The doctor is having me sample a few different kinds of Prenatal vitamins, and I am almost done with the first sample pack. I think part of the reason I basically couldn't eat ANYTHING for a couple of days was because I just started the new ones. I am feeling a little better now. But you never know when it will come back again hard. Still haven't thrown up though. I feel blessed so far, but again, my luck, I will throw up at the worst moment like during a piano lesson, at work, or during church while I'm up at the organ. I feel a little crazy, but at 7 weeks and 3 days, I already feel bigger in the belly. That is crazy. I am already in need of bigger pants and trust me I haven't been eating more. I can barely get much down before my body hates it again. Anyway, Kevin and I are still praying hard and thanking Heavenly Father every day for the gift he's given us and pray that mom and baby stay healthy...and Daddy stays sane! Poor Kevin he is so good at taking care of me and helping me around the house. Thank you for your prayers and please keep them up!

Love, The Sproul Family

Good News!!

So about 2 weeks ago Kevin and I found out that we were pregnant again! Yay! I am 6 weeks 4 days as of today, and I am due October 18th according to the ultrasound I got on Wednesday. I want to post that when I figure out how. (It is in PDF format at the time I may just take a picture of it. Anyhow, we are so excited and we are praying hard that we have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby at the end. :-) Kevin and I can't help but feel extremely blessed even this early in the pregnancy. It was so nice to see our little bean and hear and see the heartbeat. We are already in love and so attached to this little baby that is only as big as a blueberry.

I have been feeling ok, as in I haven't thrown up yet, but I definately don't feel great. I have many food aversions, which sometimes include everything in the house including water. Sprite has really been a saving grace for me, but I try to get some things down so I get proper nutrients and vitamins that I need. I obviously take my prenatals, but I feel like I lack protein since the two meats we usually eat, ground turkey and chicken, I am not wanting to eat at the moment. somtimes I can't even be in the kitchen. I am also really moody. Poor Kevin. He has to put up with me! But I love him, he has been so great at putting up with me and making me comfortable. How luck am I! I feel very lucky. But still praying that all goes well!

Mac and CHEESE!

So Kevin and I made the BEST Mac and Cheese I've ever tasted. Really, it was a recipe that my mom has been making all my life and we just added stuff and baked it. My mom makes this AMAZING homemade cheese sauce which she taught me how to make when she was here in November. So I mixed the cheese sauce in and then we added bacon pieces (I just used the pre-cooked bacon or "sandwich" bacon) and then topped with extra Cheddar cheese and then BAKED ALL THE GOODNESS TOGETHER and this is what we got!

Mac and Cheese Awesome

It was SO delicious! Oh and I used Rotini noodles instead of the macaroni noodles. They are my fav because they capture some sauce in the twirlies! Anyway, VERY TASTY!

Me opening my surprise gift! Walkie Talkies, because I walkie and a talkie
