We've got ourselves a 5 month old

I can't believe that 5 months ago I had a newborn and was struggling with the recovery of a c-section.  But it has been so wonderful having Kaylee girl in our lives and has made our family so much happier and closer than ever!  She has been able to roll over since she turned 4 months but the last week she discovered she can use this talent to get what she needs whether that is to roll over to a toy, or roll over to mom or dad, or roll into the coffee table over, and over, and over until mom and dad move her.  She REALLY wants to be able to sit up.  I see the desire there, and she is desprately working on those ab muscles.  So I help her out sometimes by sitting her up and helping her work on her balance.  Sometimes she will be sitting up all by herself and then relize she is doing it and topple over.  I catch her of course...most of the time.  She is feeling all better now other than the boogers.  But no fever, and still as happy as ever.

Some things Kaylee likes to do are take a bath, spit up when mommy doesn't have a burp cloth near by, play in her play gym, look in envy at the remote control and our phones, talk (in baby talk) as loud as she can and as soft as she can, eat rice cereal, cuddling, and laughing at daddy.  She is also a fan of diaper changes.  She always has been.  She is happiest when naked.  Here is a video of her rolling over.  It took me 2 minutes to get her to do it so if you want to skip to the last part go for it.  She is so cute!

And here is one of her laughing.  I had to hide the camera from her so the video isn't great but the laugh is GREAT!  Plus there are some shots of her cute little face!

It will make you smile for SURE!  It is way cute.  Not long either.

Also, in less than a month Kevin and I will be walking in the MS walk.  If any of you are in Louisville and want to walk, it is free.  I have already raised some money and I am going to put in a little bit myself as well.  But you don't have to pay to walk.  I would LOVE the company.  It is short walk and I am going to bring Kaylee and her stroller.  If you don't live in Louisville and would like to date please do so!  I would really appreciate it.  As some of you know my mom has had MS at least since 2004 when she found out.  If you want to find out more, join my team or donate please visit HERE

Such a great life we have.  We are so blessed to have the family and friends we have.

Sniffles and Sneezes

What a weekend it has been.  Last week about Thursday Kevin started feeling a little under the weather.  On Friday he worked mostly from home and I started hearing a few sniffles from Kaylee.  By Saturday morning all 3 of us were sick.  Kevin has stuffy nose, a throat thing, and just felt blah!  I had a slight throat thing but I guess I was having drainage because nausea was hitting me pretty hard (no grossness from me though).  I probably felt the best out of all of us.  Kaylee had a stuffy nose and a fever.  Her fever we were able to get down from 100.6 to 99.0 with Tylenol.  99 was today and 100.6 was Saturday.  We had to use saline solution and the "bulby" to get the snot out.  Not much came out.  But we tried.  Last night she scared me a bit because there was blood in her spit up!  We called the nurse service that answers questions after hours and on weekends and they told us that if she does it again to call again and we would probably be bringing her in.  They also told us to bring in the rag to the doctors office so they can test it.

Well after a night where I slept in her room and she woke up once really upset (not like her by the way she sleeps through the night every healthy night), Kevin talked to out pediatrician office about the event and they wanted to see her.  So we brought her in and found out the following.

-She is surprisingly happy while being sick.

- She will be OK.  Because we had to use the "bulby" some of her sensitive capillaries were irritated and some may had burst causing her to suck down that mucus and blood into her stomach.  That is why it was in her spit up.

-Our once 4 month old weighing at 13 lbs 2 oz is now our almost 5 month old who weighs 14 lbs 11oz.  What?!

-We just need to put some Vaseline in her nostrils and help her little stuffy nose to be unstuffed.  We got some tips from the doc.

-Oh also, she is so cute the doctor wanted to take her home with her!!  Ha ha

We love our Doctor's Office!

We are lucky that even though all of us have been sick (and I haven't been sick in a LONG time) that Kaylee has been so happy and has had few moments where she really realized how sick she felt.  Thank you Juice Plus for keeping us healthy for so long and for this speedy recovery!

4 months old already!

Has 4 months gone by already? Yes indeed it has!  Yesterday Kaylee made her 4 month milestone and this morning she went in for her 4 month well baby check up.  She did really well.  She was happy the whole time even though it cut into her nap time.  I say the whole time not counting the 30 second immediately after she got two shots.  She loved her oral one.  This was no surprise considering she loved it last time too.  She IS teething, however what I thought was a tooth, is not a tooth and should go away soon.  She is also ready to try rice cereal and eventually some vegetables!  I am starting the cereal today.  I am going to try and make my own eventually.  But for now I just bought some at the store.  I will let you know how my baby food making adventures go in the future :-).  Here is a valentines picture of our little girl~

Her current stats: 13 lbs 2 oz (50%); 24 inches (30%) and 42 centimeters in head circumference (75%)

I was off on my guess.  I was guessing like 14 lbs.  But I am not surprised that she grew 2 inches.  Kevin and I have noticed her getting longer and longer.  She has outgrown some of her PJs on length alone.  She rolled over this morning from back to belly for the first time this morning, but we didn't see it.  One minute she was on her back and then Kevin looked over and she was magically on her belly.  She has been able to roll over from belly to back for a while now.  So it was exciting that she turned that half roll into a full roll and may soon be using these rolls of hers to travel all over our living area.  I'm excited (and slightly scared) for this next stage in babyhood.  I love seeing her little personality come out and how she is growing!  Love being a parent!

Oh and during our little photo session yesterday, I captured this hilariously odd face she made:

Also this month she has laughed out loud!  It was way more like a real laugh than the video we posted earlier.  Of course I started taping too late and she hasn't done it since, but it was WAY cute and I wish that we could hear it again...Soon I hope!  She is growing up so fast!

Burns Night 2011

Every January we go to Lexington, KY and help celebrate Burns Night with one of Kevin's best friend Will and his mom Sandy.  Sandy has a bagpipe and drum band that they are both a part of.  Sandy on Bagpipes and Will on the bass drum.  For those of you who don't know what Burn's night is, it is a night to celebrate the birthday of the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns.  So they have dinner, birthday cake, Haggis, and performances by the band, dancers, and of course Kevin!  Kevin sang a few songs I believe with words by Robert Burns.  It was a REALLY fun night.  We also brought Kaylee with us.  Yes we subjected her to bagpipes and drums but she loved it.  He eyes were glued to the performers and didn't even flinch when they started playing.  She even took a small nap. Here are a few videos of the night.

Daddy and Daughter Bond

So everyone knows that there is a special bond between a dad and his daughter.  Kaylee is truly Daddy's girl.  I love the little conversations they have together and how she lights up when he comes home from work.  Kevin is a really good dad.

This one above is Kevin and Kaylee between 2 and 3 months old. She also discovered her feet in the video. I love the end of this video!

The above video is one that was taken shortly after she did her first big laugh.  Obviously I was trying to get the cute laughter, but missed it by a second.  It is still really cute!

Life Recently

I know I have posted a lot of pictures from my phone (which I'm sure is the most interesting part of my blog anyway ha ha)  but I thought I would update on how things have gone lately.  Kevin and I have been very happy being parents.  After you get passed the beginning of not knowing what you are doing, things get better and Kaylee gets happier and happier everyday!  Kevin and I had our 2nd wedding anniversary on December 27th.  We tried going to Ryan's Buffet, because we had a good coupon, it was ok, but we had fun being together and celebrating 2 years of pure joy.  So much has happened in the last two years that it seems like we have been together much longer.

Kaylee has continued to sleep through the night which makes us happy.  Also she is getting a lot better at tummy time and holding up her head.  She makes a lot of talking noises.  She even gave me more of a laugh today with squeaks and everything!  She can roll over from belly to back and sometimes does a half role from back to side.  I'm so proud of everything she does.  Oh her bouncer she has some toys that hang down.  She has been batting them around for awhile and now it grabbing them.  She is REALLY close to pulling the bannana in the middle which will start music playing if she does.We love our Kaylee so much and I can't believe she is already 3 months old!

This is her half role I was talking about.  I actually basically made this play gym from parts from 3 other play gyms.  She LOVES it!  She also enjoys sucking on all fingers except her thumb.  We give her the Binky as much as possible which she also enjoys.
Kaylee after a bath in her robe.  Such a cutie!
Kaylee has also started holding her own bottle.  We give her a bottle a day because I want her to be able to be babysat and it makes it easier to give her her vitamins.  Such a proud moment!  My little girl is growing up so fast!!
